因为光纤具有传输损耗和导致传输脉冲展宽的色散,要进一步发展远距离的光纤通信,就需要解决如何有规律地恢复发送信号的参数的问题。是以哪一个因素的影响为主,要根据光纤的特性而定。只有使用高速中继器,才可能在光纤中传送尽可能高的信息速率。下面提出的光中继器,可以同时恢复光脉冲的幅度和长度,从而实现对光脉、冲参数的校正。传输信息的速率高于1千兆比特/秒。
