On March 26, 2008, the Australian government formally filed a case investigation on the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy merger of toilet paper originating in or exported from China. This is the first anti-subsidy investigation launched by Australia on Chinese products. Wang Xinpei, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce, said that the Chinese government regrets that the Australian side still insists on filing a case investigation when the application lacks sufficient legal and factual evidence support and fails to meet the WTO filing requirements as set forth in the WTO rules and the Australian domestic law.
