Science of Translating translated as “translating science ” violates and subverts the definition of translation, translating Science of Translating by Eugene Nida into “translating science A well accepted translation paradigm. English ”science “ refers only to natural sciences, and Chinese ”sciences“ refers to natural sciences and humanities and social sciences. Translation is the controversy between science and non-science There has been a fierce existance in the field of translation studies in China and there is still no conclusion. The study found that the first argument was caused by different definitions and the second was caused by a misunderstanding of Nida’s viewpoints. According to the English definition of ”science“, translation is not science; according to the Chinese definition of ”science“, translation is science. However, the textbooks written by mainstream Chinese translation theorists say that the view that ”translation is science“ is based on Nida’s viewpoint. However, Nida’s Science of Translating is understood and translated into ”translation science“ as a misreading and mistranslation. The Chinese completely interpret translation as science based on the Chinese definition of ”science".
