《北京晚报》从1991年7月1日起,由原来的平日每天四开四版、周末周日四开八版,改为每天四开八版。报价也由每份零售8分,增至1角5分。扩版后,发行量稳步上升。到1992年6月,日平均发行量已比扩版前的去年同期上升20多万份。20字扩版方针扩版方针是:提高思想性,扩大信息量,增强可读性,贴近百姓家。并根据这一方针,制订了详细的扩版计划。
