Objective: To investigate the basic characteristics of cochlear microvasculature in guinea pigs and the effect of endothelium-derived relaxing factor on cochlear microvascular autonomic movement in guinea pigs. Methods: Seven guinea pigs were injected intravenously with L-arginine after cochlear fenestration. The digital images of the microcirculation system were used to record the frequency of cochlear microvascular autonomic movement. Results: Under normal conditions, the cochlear micro-arteries of guinea pigs had less self-discipline movement. The mean arterial pressure, blood pressure and heart rate after L-arginine administration were not significantly different from those before treatment (P> 0.05) , Blood flow, vasoconstriction index compared with before treatment, the difference was significant (P <0. 05). Conclusion: Endothelium-dependent relaxation factor can significantly increase the frequency and amplitude of cochlear arteriolar voluntary movement in guinea pigs, increase the cochlear blood flow in guinea pigs and enhance the cochlear microcirculation in guinea pigs
