In the history of Bulgaria, a total of four constitutions were promulgated, which spanned three periods: the capitalist period (the 1879 constitution), the socialist period (the 1947 constitution and the 1971 constitution), and the post-socialist period (the 1991 constitution). With the continuous improvement of the constitution, the system of constitutional supervision has gradually been established. From the exercise of constitutional supervisory power by the supreme organ of state power, the system of constitutional supervision has evolved into a specialized institution nowadays - the constitutional court exercises constitutional supervision. I. Historical Review Bulgaria started constitutionalization in 1879, and its first constitution was the “Tarnovo Constitution” passed by the constitutional National Assembly on April 16 of this year.
