在鄂伦春装饰艺术史上,最初的装饰纹样是简单的几何图形;随着宗教崇拜向动植物的写生转变;至近代由于制作手段及外来文化冲击,变为抽象的自然景物。其中最具代表性广为流传的是抽象的花朵和连续纹样,是鄂伦春族对山林生活的幸福表述。装饰纹样对于这支只有语言没有文字的民族来说,是民族发展史上的见证与记录,体现出了狩猎民族的随意性,体现出了中华民族的象征性,体现出了流动民族的借鉴性,同时也体现出了鄂伦春族对于装饰纹样进行抽象和提炼的智慧。在此以最为典型的民族服饰和桦树皮制品中主要的几类装饰纹样作为研究对象,其他不做过多陈述。
