Australia’s agricultural export revenue accounted for 38% of its total export revenue. Compared with other countries, Japan, Western Europe and the United States on agriculture subsidies to the Australian economy has brought a more heavy blow. In a recent report, Australia’s First Minister of Industry, Geoff Miller, attacked the subsidy. The main points of the report are as follows: 1. In the early 1980s, U.S. subsidies to agriculture cost taxpayers over 3 billion in a year -50 billion U.S. dollars. In 1986, this cost increased to 30 billion U.S. dollars, about 15% of the U.S. national budget deficit. This means that every non-farm payer in the United States has to contribute nearly $ 700.
