Patients with acute liver failure (ALF) lose cerebral blood flow self-regulation due to cerebrovascular dilatation. Arterial hypocapnia is known to cause cerebral vasoconstriction and therefore the study aimed to understand whether cerebral blood flow self-regulation could be reconstructed by mechanical hyperventilation.
