“深于思,精于勤”是李可染先生赠于弟子的话。“精于勤”是齐白石老人在96岁题给李可染的最后遗墨;“深于思”是李可染在悟道求艺路途上的甘苦之言。这六个字既是理论上的指导,也是可染先生自己亲身实践的结论。他说过“艺术要向天、向地”。天是理论观点,地是实际。理论和时间要相辅相成,相互促进。在实践中不断的学习和升华,这些都是李可染开拓新道路的基点,也是他老人家开创现代山水画具有里程碑意义的牢固基石。众所周知,李可染的现代山水画是前无古人,后无来者的。他在中国山水画界一直是大家关注和欣赏的山水画家。对于他是如何利用光影,怎样将西方的绘画语言运用到国画中,并且还是那么成功。这些还要追踪他老人家的艺术历程。
