白居易一生沉溺于诗歌创作,他常用“诗魔”等字眼来形容自己的创作激情;同时他笃信佛教,后半生宗教热忱更高。他的创作激情与佛教热忱之间存在着矛盾和冲突。他用因果宿命观、“文字因缘”、偿还“诗债”等来解释和化解创作冲动和宗教热忱之间的矛盾。“文字因缘”与偿还“诗债”理论确立了诗人本位意识和诗歌本位意识,也为他的“游戏”之作找到了一定理论依据。白居易创作沉溺心理既反映了他个人政治热情退潮后的补偿心理,也反映了中唐人对诗歌功能新的认识。
Bai Juyi indulged himself in poetry writing all his life. He often used the term “poem magic” to describe his passion for creation.
