The similarities and differences between OH~- doped and O_2~- doped KCl crystaland the influences of these dopants on the formation of color centers are analysed from struc-tural chemistry and physical chemistry of defects.It is found that the OH~- dopant enters intothe crystal much easier than O_2~-,and OH~- doping distributes homogeneously in the crystal.on this basis,a new color center crystal (KCl:Na~+:OH~-):(F_2~+)_(AH) was prepared successul-ly.The crystal growth is discribed.The generation of the color center and the spectral evolu-tion due to the color center conversion as well as the laser properties of the (KCl:Na~+:OH~-):(F_2~+)_(AH) are discussed.
