I. INTRODUCTION The derivative method first proposed by Hammond et al. In 1953 is a technique designed to solve two almost overlapping absorption peaks in the optical spectrum. Due to its high sensitivity, simple method and its ability to resolve such issues as the separation of near or overlapping absorption peaks and the significant increase of selectivity, it has been rapidly studied in foreign countries in recent years and used to determine peaks and overlaps of X-ray diffraction Peak separation. With the development of electronic technology and the universal application of microcomputer in spectroscopy, it is foreseeable that the application of derivative methods and techniques in X-ray diffraction analysis will surely emerge a brand new situation. At present, Philips Phillips latest diffractometer PW1700 has been using the technology in the peak search program.
