1 INTRODUCTION The Indian Ocean central longwave basement wavy structure is not only the largest but also the easiest active growth deformation on a lithosphere scale within the oceanic plate. These formations formed in a late-generation, spatially discontinuous simple form. This paper reviews various possible mechanisms for explaining the formation of these structures and demonstrates that these structures are formed by the plastic lithospheric folds that are different from the bending and wrinkling of the flexural plates. thus
