长泰县位于龙溪地区的北部,属闽粤沿海丘陵平原亚热带林区,也是闽东南杉木边缘产区。该县土地总面积为136万余亩,其中农用地20万余亩。1979年调查资料统计:现有林59.7万亩,其中人工林35.7万亩,包括用材林31.7万亩,(杉术15.5万亩),经济林4万亩和天然次生林24万亩。全县杉木人工林15.5万亩中,按造林整地方式不同可划分为四个阶段:一是1958年以前,用小块状整地造林,面积0.5万亩,二是1963年～1965年用大块整地造林,面积达5万亩;三是1972～1975年多采用高标准的撩壕整地造林。由于县委重视,发动和组织群众大力
