1911年10月9日,即武昌起义前一天,因设在汉口楚善里和武昌小朝街的起义机关被查抄,革命党人彭楚藩、刘复基、杨洪胜三人被捕。清廷督府连夜审讯,三烈士宁死不屈。10日凌晨,彭、刘、杨三人,被清廷杀害于湖广总督府东辕门外。湖广总督瑞澄下令把三烈士头颅悬挂城头示众。三烈士的头颅,唤醒了大众,激怒了义军,换得首义成功。
On October 9, 1911, one day before the Wuchang uprising, three members of the revolutionaries, Peng Chufan, Liu Fuji and Yang Hongsheng, were arrested for being found in the rebel units of Chu Shanli in Hankou and Xiao Chaogou in Wuchang. The Qing court inspectors overnight trial, the three martyred rather unyielding. In the early hours of the 10th, Peng, Liu and Yang were murdered by the Qing court outside the government office at Canton Hall of Canton East Canton. Governor Huguang ordered the three martyrs head hung over the city public demonstrations.
