Early August 1975, Henan, Anhui Huaihe River Basin occurred a flood. This is the major flooding hit so far since the liberation, with the most affected area and the largest death toll. After the floods, Xinhua News Agency prepared to immediately send a message, and a continuous public coverage, however, upon request, then the central leadership decided not to be publicly reported. Has not been publicly reported since. Today, the flood has lasted for 27 years and has always been a “blank” in the history of Chinese newspapers and news. Xinhua News Agency, the reporter who has conducted in-depth interviews with flood victims from beginning to end, is obliged to make up this page in the history of China’s news reports so that future generations can understand and draw lessons from it.
