The conventional seismic response of a thin layer approximates the time derivative of the incident wavelet, whereas the pseudo-impedance response approximates the incident wavelet. Therefore, the pseudo-impedance response of geological sequences made of thin layers is simpler and easier to explain than conventional ones. The agreement between sonic logging and pseudo-velocity profiles improves by verifying sonic log data with seismic logging data and performing zero-phase seismic processing. However, the non-compliance of amplitude and phase still exists. The article describes five-step processing and interpretation procedures that facilitate multiple interpretations of model seismic profiles derived from acoustic logging.
