The lower Jurassic of the northern slope of Mount Everest is composed of three lithostratigraphic units: Wuhu, Kangtai and Yongjia formations. They are formed in three different depositional environments of carbonate gentle slope, rift basin and carbonate platform, respectively, and include six sedimentary facies. The area experienced strong depression and subsidence in the early Jurassic, which is a mature rift basin. The Lower Jurassic contains 11 third-order sequences and three second-order sequences, forming a large seaward-descending cycle. The tertiary sequence is well comparable in the Tethyan area and closely related to the global sea level change. The second-order sequence is directly related to the sedimentation and sedimentation rate, which reflects the evolution of the Neo-Tethyan and its two Side of the plate activities.
