On November 4, Huang Huahua, former governor of Guangdong Province retired and Zhu Xiaodan was appointed acting governor. Prior to that, Zhu Xiaodan was appointed standing vice governor of Guangdong in February 2010. Huang Huahua had been the governor of Guangdong since 2003 and retired when he was 60 year old in November 2011. He passed the governorship to Zhu Xiaodan, who was believed to be his successor a long time ago.
　　Zhu Xiaodan, 53, was born and grew up in Guangzhou and spent most of his career in Guangdong. In the 1980s, he was considered one the “Four Most Promising Officials” of the propaganda team of Guangdong govern- ment along with Yu Youjun, Cao Chunliang and Li Yuanjiang. However, Li Yuanjiang and Yu Youjun were imprisoned due to corruption; Cao Chunliang passed away in 2008. Only Zhu Xiaodan progressed in his political career.
　　Zhu Xiaodan started his career as a cadre of the Communist Youth League. He was appointed as the head of the propaganda department of Guangdong Province in 2003. In 2006, he moved to Guangzhou as the Party secretary of this city.
　　Presently Guangdong is in a key period of transformation and faces the regression of the global economy. This is the biggest challenge for Zhu Xiaodan in the future.
