Zweig’s novel written in 1922, “A Letter from a Strange Woman,” has long been a classic of love literature with its deep, melancholic and touching artistic style. The novel was adapted into a movie in 1948 and 2004 by Western director Max Ophiles and Chinese director Xu Jinglei. The two adapted versions of the film present their own different artistic styles. Comparing this special adaptation event with the specific features of the interactive interpretation of novel texts and movie images, it can be seen that the complex process of heterogeneous culture under the condition of deep collision, from opposites to intertwining to intertwining further involves both Chinese and western Different cultural mentality, but also vertically integrated the aesthetic orientation of different ages.
