In both rural West Virginia and California, Americans spend more and more time commuting to and from work, traveling longer distances. Many Americans think that if they want to live in a big house, they naturally have to live far away and they can accept this price. Figures released by the Census Bureau on August 6 this year (US) show that the commute to work on a long journey reflects a major trend of the 1990s. This trend is: Americans live more and more spacious. A home with 8 rooms usually consists of 4 bedrooms (this style is becoming more common in upscale suburbs).
