Objective To understand the factors that underlie the inclusion of college students in the basic medical insurance for urban residents, the factors influencing the willingness of college students to consume medical care, and provide the basis for guiding college students in forming the correct medical consumption intention and behavior. Methods A stratified cluster random sampling method was used to investigate 390 undergraduates of freshmen to juniors in 3 colleges and universities in Sichuan Province, including science and engineering universities, medical colleges and ethnic minority colleges. The data of the questionnaire were tested by chi-square test Univariate analysis, multivariate analysis by unconditional Logistic regression. Results A total of 375 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective rate of 96.2%. 107 students (28.5%) preferred to be in medical school and 268 (71.5%) were not preferred schools. Multivariate analysis The results showed that the medical level of school hospital was low (P = 0.012, OR = 1.847), gender (P = 0.002, OR = 0.477), age (P = 0.038, OR = 0.725) ) And five levels of college students’ understanding of basic medical insurance for urban residents (P = 0.009, OR = 1.462) entered the Logistic regression model. Conclusion Most college students ’intention of medical spending is not the preferred school hospital, which is not conducive to the rational use of medical and health resources, which not only increases students’ financial burden but also can not fully protect students ’rights and interests. College students’ medical willingness to consume is affected by many factors Influence, schools and relevant departments should fully consider the role of these influencing factors, and take a series of positive and effective measures to strengthen the construction of university hospitals and urban residents ’basic medical insurance so as to enhance college students’ insurance awareness and guide them to form the correct medical consumption intention And behavior.
