西藏,在许多西方人士的心目中是一个神秘的世界,众说纷纭的猜测和荒谬的传说更使有些人迷惑不解。因此,不少好奇的西方人怀着探秘和猎奇的心情去那里观光。美籍台湾著名女作家陈若曦女士曾两次入藏,但其主要目的却不是观光和游览。她第一次入藏是在1987年7月6日,在拉萨停留了一个星期,主要是为了采访和向外报道西藏的实况。她回到美国后,把在西藏亲眼目睹的西藏政治、宗教、文化,经济各方面的情况综合起来,写了五万多字的报道,在美洲《中报》,台湾《人间》杂志、香港《九十年代》月刊、《星岛日报》,新加坡《新民日报》,马尼拉《世界日报》、巴黎
