In the early 1930s, I lived in Xiamen, Ivy River (now Siming Road), next door live with a hanging “Dari × natives ××× ” Japanese nationals. One day, three Chinese police officers chased two criminals to this door. The perpetrators flew into the house of this family. The three Chinese police officers did not dare to chase into the house and arrested the criminals who were pursued and quietly left. Neighbors neighbors people talk about one after another. I asked Dad: Why did not our police go in to arrest fugitives? Dad said: Japanese people are rich and powerful, and our officials are afraid of him. The police also dare to arrest people in his house. Opened opium pavilion, row upon row, business is booming. It is said that this is only the retail outlets of opium narcotics, while others are exclusively opium-based drug wholesalers. They colluded with tyrants and evil gentry in southern Fujian and local bandit gangsters to sell opium-based smuggled cigarettes imported from abroad to the south of Fujian Province, thereby poisoning the people.
