Taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid) is one of the metabolic end products of sulfur-containing amino acids. Its main function is to participate in the formation of taurine-bound cholic acid. In the recent ten years, the role of taurine in nutrition has been paid more and more attention. It is probably the conditionally essential nutrient of human body. At the same time, some reports point out that taurine can effectively prevent and treat heart and cerebrovascular diseases such as hypertension, stroke, arrhythmia and atherosclerosis in experimental animals or humans. The authors found that taurine can effectively prevent arachidonic acid-induced acute death in rabbits and that taurine can inhibit platelet adhesion and platelet aggregation induced by ADP, collagen and arachidonic acid.
