残积型红壤[B]层的磁化率略高于A、C层,坡积型红壤各层的磁化率则无某种确定规律.由玄武岩母质发育的红壤磁化率比凝灰岩母质发育的高20倍以上;橄榄玄武岩母质比玄武玢岩母质上发育的红壤磁化率高二倍以上.磁化率测定有助于确定土属界线,且比传统方法要快速、可靠.磁测在划分土壤发生层段、研究母质异源、铁锰积聚层发育及土属划分中提供重要信息.
