7月25日,以77.53亿港元收购英国天然气供应商Wale s&West Utilities后,李泽钜开了一支香槟庆祝一这是他成为华人新首富后第一笔大买卖。加上此前他对英国电网和供水网络的两笔大收购,英媒惊呼,李泽钜几乎“买下了英国”。也难怪友邦惊诧。收购WWU后,李泽钜将控制近三成英国天然气市场,英国四分之一人口的天然气由他们供应。与此同时,英国约四分之一的电力分销市场以及约5%的供水市场亦是李家资产。
On July 25, after purchasing British natural gas supplier Wale S & West Utilities for a consideration of HK $ 7,753 million, Mr Lee opened a champagne celebration to mark the first big sale after he became the new Chinese richest man. Coupled with his previous two major acquisitions of the UK power grid and water supply network, the British media exclaimed, “Dr Richard Li bought Britain almost.” It is no wonder that AIA was surprised. After the acquisition of WWU, Mr Lee will control nearly 30% of the British natural gas market, a quarter of Britain’s natural gas supply by them. In the meantime, about a quarter of the electricity distribution market in the UK and about 5% of the water supply market are also Li’s assets.
