据报导,日本就9月10日~15日在北京召开的稀土开发应用的国际会议,对中国的稀土生产和研究进行了评论。认为拥有世界最多稀土资源的中国如果能向利用方面全面发展,则有可能成为世界稀土的主导国,但是从这次会议看来,中国对稀土的分离精炼和萤光体、贮氢、球墨铸铁研究甚多,而对于固体电介质的研究则很少,其研究水平至少要迟于日本20年。因此中国必须很快充实基础研究,那种集中资料,越过基础研究盲目追求尖端技术的观点是错误的。中国化学领域的研究只不过是应用研究。
