Homer and Langley are - brothers, parents died. The two live in a luxury mansion on Noble 5th Avenue in New York. His younger brother Homer began to lose his eyes blindly in his teens; his brother Langley was hurt by nerve gas in World War I, his behavior after returning home was different from that of ordinary people. Langley has the lofty ideal of summing up all the experiences of human life and running an ultimate newspaper that can read forever and accurately describe the life of any day. To this end he collected a variety of newspapers, and then extended to a variety of objects: cars, typewriters, gas masks, TV sets,
