该研究试图以四川省A市特有的低价格性交易形式“板板茶”为例，观察其中的组织构成、人们的思维与行为方式等，将人类学关于组织、自律和医患关系的相关理论运用在性病、艾滋病防治领域，提供创新性理论诠释与评估，寻求人类学理论支持下卓有成效的干预实践，从而使传统的学院式研究转向理论指导下的公共卫生——人类学的联合应用性防治实践。
