《诗史》出版以后,学术界一直把它作为我国古代文学研究的一项重要成果,被视为20世纪经典学术史著作之一。《诗史》植根于传统的学术基础,又运用了现代学术观念和研究方法。它对我国古代诗歌变迁的趋势,对多种诗体的产生和变化,对不少诗歌的艺术技巧,都基于进化的观念和唯物史观,从流变的视角,做动态的描述。在史料方面,《诗史》以“传信自勉”,扩大了“‘诗’的领土”。它把诗歌作品作为诗史的本位和主体,特别重视分析具有创新意义的作品和流派,注意运用文艺社会学、文艺心理学、比较文学和语言学等方法,从多方面揭示作品丰富的内涵。由于时代的局限,《诗史》中也存在一些偏失。
After the publication of “History of Poetry”, academia has regarded it as one of the important achievements in the study of Chinese ancient literature and is regarded as one of the classic works of academic history in the 20th century. “History of Poetry” is rooted in the traditional academic foundation, but also uses modern academic concepts and research methods.
