The “military-industrial complex” is the most important real-life political force that has pushed the United States to expand its armaments. After World War II, it gradually formed a combination of interests formed by the Ministry of National Defense, military enterprises, the National Assembly and scientific research institutes in just a few decades of development. An analysis of the structure, history, interests needs and influence of the “military-industrial complex” can help us to explain the key inducement behind the implementation of the NMD program by the Bush administration from the perspective of domestic political and policy formulation in the United States.
