In order to study the changes of complement bypass hemolytic activity (ACH 50) and its relationship with endotoxin in patients with liver disease, 111 patients were observed in laboratory. The results showed: chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis patients ACH_ (50) value decreased, acute hepatitis can be increased. There was a positive correlation between ACH_ (50) and C_3 (r = 0.444, P <0.01), demonstrating that the decrease of ACH_ (50) was related to the reduction of hepatic C_3 synthesis. The positive rate of immunochromatographic test in patients with severe hepatitis and liver cirrhosis was as high as 60%, suggesting that the low ACH 50 value may be one of the reasons for the depletion of endotoxin due to C 3 synthesis.
