1999年6月27～30日,我国昆明市和瑞士苏黎世市共同举办了“中瑞第二次昆明可持续城市发展与公共交通规划研讨会”,国家建设部、云南省的领导和瑞士国民议会议长、苏黎世第一副市长、瑞士驻华大使、以及我国香港、台湾及内地各界专家学者200多人出席了本次会议。会议的主题是,如何树立以人为本的思想,创造良好的生态环境,以保证城市的可持续性发展。与会代表经过两天的热烈研讨,形成了如下的共识:大力发展城市公共交通,是当前实施城市可持续发展战略的重要手段;而发展城市公共交通,又必须因地制宜,科学地选择公共交通的方式,不应照搬其他国家或城市的经验。
