关於动物周边神经蛋白的研究,雖然Schmitt,Bear等早在廿余年前即已开始,但至今主要的工作都是用龍蝦足神经或乌贼大神经为材料;而对於温血动物周边神经蛋白的研究则很少。近几年来Deuticke和Keil用牛腿闭孔神经(n.Obturatorius)进行了研究。可是这些工作都只限於对抽出的蛋白系统作一些超离心或电泳的难以解难以解决观察,而对其中各别蛋白成分都未能分离提纯,因此也无从深入地阐明它们的性质。
