China is committed to reducing oil use in the coming years by avoiding wasteful consumption and developing renewable energy as alternatives, according to a message from higher-ranking government officials. Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan said December 28 that optimizing the energy structure will be put high on the government agenda in the next few years. By 2020, renewable energy is expected to account for 15% of national consumption, up from the current 7%.
