就当代美术领域而言,我的感觉是只有艺术家而无艺术,倘若有“真”的艺术,也不可能在当代产生巨大影响。要判断一个时代是否有真的艺术与艺术家,方法其实很简单,如爱因斯坦所说:“一个人把自己的内在追求同他的生计尽可能分割开来,是最好不过的事情。如果一个人每天的面包得靠上帝的特别赐予,那可不是好事。”以此而论,当代的美术创作基本上是在即时性,浅表性的层次上作用于社会的。“文革”结束的伤痕美术是对“文革”期间政治功利美术的反判,紧接着80年代,各种美术思潮则很表面、很急促地将欧美美术流派样武与本土民间乡土的样式模仿了一遍,当然也就谈不上什么成就;再接下来的十多年行政化和商品化的美术创作,可以说它们都不是真正意义上的艺术创作。在此背景下,美术界成为另外人羡慕的行业之一,成为角逐十分激烈的巨大名利场。中国现时的美术家有多少?按照中国美协
