2008年2月18日,中共中央党史研究室确认将乐县、沙县属于中央苏区县范围。中央党史研究室在给福建省委党史研究室、福建革命老根据地建设委员会办公室的回复中认为:根据国家民政部、财政部1979年6月24日下发的有关文件所规定的第二次国内革命战争时期革命根据地划分标准,同时根据大量的历史资料说明,将乐是1933年6月至1934年2月中央主力红军东方军开辟的新苏区,属于中央苏区鼎盛时期的范围。
