与近代相比,“五四”时期对翻译文学价值的认识趋于全面,不仅把它当做望异域世界的窗口,而且视之为思想启蒙的载体、精神沟通的桥梁、救治传统文学观念弊病的良药、新文学建设的范型和别致的审美对象。在前驱者看来,文学翻译不是权宜之计,而是对于精神文明建设和新文学发展具有恒久意义的重要工程。翻译文学极大地拓展了中国文学的表现空间和艺术天地,促成了白话文学语体的成熟,培养了作家,也哺育了读者,在多种层面上参与了中国现代历史进程。
Compared with the modern times, the understanding of the value of translation literature in the May 4th Movement tends to be comprehensive. It not only serves as a window for looking forward to the exotic world, but also serves as a carrier of ideological enlightenment, a bridge of spiritual communication and a cure for defects of traditional literary concepts The good medicine, the paradigm of new literature construction and the unique aesthetic object. To the forerunner, literary translation is not an expedient measure, but an important project of lasting significance to the construction of spiritual civilization and the development of new literature. Translated literature has greatly expanded the performance space and art world of Chinese literature, contributed to the maturity of the vernacular literature style, cultivated the writers and nurtured the readers, and participated in the process of China’s modern history at various levels.
