在中国古典文学作品中,有一类作品较为独特,却屡见不鲜,即“女扮男装”。这些女主人公或被逼,或自愿,需要走进公众的视野或成就功名。但因古代封建思想的束缚,她们又必须靠女扮男装掩饰自己的身份,通过利用男装的身份,展开对自我意识、个性解放、男女平等的追求;换装后,无论战场、官场、商场,她们都春风得意;在功成名就之后,她们或换回女装,或就男装身份伴其一身,或幸福,或不幸,结局多样。这些女扮男装的故事流传广泛,而女扮男装的艺术形象至今闪耀着光辉,影响着后世女性的思想解放。
