据航天飞行在线网站2011年11月9日报道,NASA与洛.马公司签署了价值3.7亿美元的长期合同,于2014年使用德尔它4H火箭进行猎户座载人探测飞行器的无人轨道飞行试验。届时,德尔它4H火箭将把猎户座载人探测飞行器发射至最远距离地球8047 km的椭圆形轨道上,猎户座将绕地球飞行2圈,预计飞行时间为6个月左右。之后,将以3219 km/h的速度再入大气层。
