This article elaborates the close relationship between selenium and virus from the aspects of selenium and virus virulence, selenium and virus genetics and selenium and virus diseases. Animal experiments show that selenium deficiency can aggravate cardiac damage caused by Coxsackie virus strains and also found the same effect when vitamin E deficiency; by changing the diet of the host, benign strains can be transformed into virulent strains. But so far the exact mechanism remains unclear
