The U.S. Navy is installing the first mobile OTH radar designed and manufactured by Raytheon to be used in the Amulet Island of the Aleutias, Alaska, to provide wide-scale surveillance of the Pacific Ocean. ROTHR is a dual-base, sky-wave backscatter radar system that can track ships and aircraft. The system uses an all-solid-state transmitter with higher automation than other OTH radars and is therefore more suitable for installation in remote areas. This 200kW ROTHR radar is only 1 6 of the OTH-B OTH radar transmit power manufactured by the U.S. Air Force and General Electric Company. Due to the smaller power requirement, the required power facilities are also smaller, so it can be installed in remote areas
