One of the archeologists’ methods for determining the age of geology and ancient tombs was to use radioactive isotopes as a “clock” to measure long periods of time. This is called radioisotope dating. This article briefly discusses the principle of several isotopic dating methods with reference to examples, for reference when teaching. The 1238U and 206Pb ratio dating method 238U was a series of decays in the rock, eventually becoming 206Pb, measuring the stock of 206Pb and 238U that existed.
