作为美国“民主”的基础的“选举”是世界上最滑稽而又最无耻的欺骗。美国资产階级制定了保證资本家统治的选举法,用财产、納税、教育、种族等限制,剝夺了几千万美國人的选举权,这些人大部都是屬於佔选举人口約半数的勞動大眾。美国統治者又在选举時运用收買、压迫、排斥、作假种种方法,製造选举結果,使他們少数人冒充多數人民的代表,作議員和官吏。根据历年的统計,每次选举中有选择权但因受威嚇或厭恶操縱及其他阻力而不投票的人至少估全体選民三分之一。由於这些原因,現在,也如過去一样,九十六个参議员和四百三十五個眾議員里面幾全是资本家和他們的工具而没有一个工人。美国资本家操縱選舉的事实可以由下述例子证明。南加洛林那州的贝爾納斯於一九二二年以获得四千一百六十三票“當選”為眾議員,但是他的選區的选民却有三十万人。這位先生就是后來向全世界吹噓“美國民主”
The “election” that underlies “democracy” in the United States is the most funny and most shameless deception in the world. The U.S. bourgeoisie has enacted an electoral law that guarantees the dominance of capitalists and deprives tens of millions of Americans of the right to vote with property, tax, education, race and other restrictions, most of whom belong to the working public, who make up about half of the electoral population. At the same time, the U.S. rulers used the methods of buying, oppression, exclusion and fraud to create the election results so that the few would impersonate the representatives of the majority of the people, serve as legislators and officials. According to statistics over the years, at least one-third of all voters have been assessed by those who have the option at each election but who do not vote because of intimidation or dislike of manipulation and other resistance. For these reasons, now, as in the past, the ninety-six senators and the one hundred and forty-five councilors are all capitalists and their tools without a single worker. The fact that American capitalists manipulate the election can be proved by the following example. Bernard of southern Kalurin State received 4161 “Elected” members in 1922, but there are still 300,000 voters in his constituency. This gentleman later bragged “the United States democracy” to the whole world
