唐景崧历任清朝吏部主事、福建台湾道台、台湾布政使、台湾巡抚。中日甲午战争,大清国战败,1895年腐败无能的清朝廷被迫与日本侵略国签订了丧权辱国的《马关条约》,将台湾割让给日本,命令唐景崧“内渡”回大陆。唐景崧回到大陆后,旅居桂林,在桂林寓所潜心研究桂剧,亲自编写40多个剧本,并组建桂剧戏班,进行桂剧改革,成为桂剧第一个剧作家、桂剧最早改革者。 Tang Jingsong served as director of the Qing government department, Taiwan Road, Taiwan, Fujian, Taiwan ambassador, Taiwan governor. During the Sino-Japanese War and the defeat of the Qing Empire, the Qing imperial court in 1895, incompetent and corrupt, was forced to sign the “Treaty of Shimonoseki” with the Japanese aggressor to humiliate and insult the motherland, to cede Taiwan to Japan and order Tang Jingsong to “return to the mainland.” After returning to mainland China, Tang Jingsong resided in Guilin and devoted himself to studying Gui Opera in his apartment in Guilin. He personally wrote more than 40 plays and formed a drama troupe in Gui Opera to reform the Gui Opera. He became the first dramatist and the first reformer in Gui Opera.
