尼采曾经说:“现代艺术乃是制造残暴的艺术,使用的是粗糙的和鲜明的线条逻辑,就连色彩、质料、渴望都显出凶残之相。现代主义艺术正是禀赋着强力意志的主体对自然对象所实行的凶残的暴力肢解的具体实践。”譹文学作品的创作亦是如此,在卡森·麦卡勒斯的小说里,我们再也不能发现一个完整的人,她小说中的人物要么是在身体上存在某种缺陷,要么是在精神上有些变态畸形,通过艺术创作,卡森·麦卡勒斯把对人的拆解进行到了无以复加的地步。这种把小说中的人物置于暴力之下进行拆解的过程,也是对南方神话进行解构的过程。
