The tidal irrigation from the Song Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty in the southern part of the country has undergone tremendous changes in the technical system and geographical scope. The reason for this is that significant changes have taken place in the water conservancy environment in the southern part of the Yangtze River: the collapse of the Tangpu polder system has led to an increase in the role of tidal irrigation, However, the tide brought saltwater intrusion and siltation and other hazards, making the setting and management of sluices increasingly important. This trend of change began in the Song Dynasty, to the Huangpu River in the Ming Dynasty to replace the Wusong River status, the entire water environment in the south of the change. At the same time of enjoying the tide benefit, the tide area also had to endanger the muddy sediment, which eventually led to the decline of this irrigation method. The interaction between tidal irrigation technology and water conservancy environment typically reflects the changes of water ecology in the tidal zone of the south of Yangtze River.
