孙祥钟教授,汉族,安徽桐城人,生于1908年10月16日,中国共产党党员,著名植物分类学家。1933年,孙祥钟教授毕业于武汉大学生物系,并留校任教,在我国植物分类学奠基人之一的钟心煊教授等指导下,从事植物学研究和教学,积极创建武汉大学植物标本室(国际标本馆代号WH)。1936—1939年,去英国爱丁堡皇家植物园深造,专攻植物分类学和园艺学,从事有重要经济价值的五加科植物的研究,后因患病而提前归国,先后任武汉大学讲师、副教授、教授之职。抗战期 Professor Sun Xiangzong, Han nationality, Anhui Tongcheng people, was born in October 16, 1908, a member of the Chinese Communist Party, a well-known plant taxonomists.
